Conference Excursion and Dinner in Visegrád

Briefing of the programme.

The scheduled departure is at about 2 p.m. by bus to Visegrád (about 80 min. ride). The tour starts at the Royal Palace of Visegrád.

Since its monumental restoration, the unmissable attraction of Visegrád, the European-famous Royal Palace, has received a worthy appearance. It owed its Renaissance brilliance to King Matthias and Queen Beatrix, who, recognizing the beauty of the location and architecture of the building complex built by their predecessors but partially neglected by the mid-1400s, made it their home after renovation. Matthias invited Renaissance masters from Italy, who enchanted Visegrád with one of his most magnificent, modern palaces in the world. During our adventure walk, you can get acquainted with some of the palace’s rooms, the beautiful garden, the inner courtyard, the loggia, and the entire history of the lavish architectural masterpiece with wine in hand.

After visiting the palace, participants are invited to participate in a unique programme, a knights’ tournament which is organised by the traditionalists of the Saint George Knightly Order, inseparably associated with the city of Visegrád. The show is held in the Solomon Tower.

Following the knights’ tournament, medieval drummers will show you the way to the place of traditional historic feast where we are going to have our conference dinner (~10 min. walk). The venue of our royal feasts is the gastro-paradise of Visegrád, Renaissance Restaurant, which faithfully represents the era.

After the dinner participants will be taken back to downtown Budapest. Estimated arrival is at about 21:30.
